What is the Reading Program?
The Golden Hills PTO is excited to offer this Reading Program to Golden Hills Elementary students as an extra incentive to encourage kids to read while giving them an opportunity to explore new books and grow their home libraries! Reading logs are no longer required to get a book.
How can the PTO afford these books?
Due to our mission to exclusively serve the students of Golden Hills Elementary School and the school's status as a Title 1 school in California, we were accepted as a member into the First Book organization. This organization is dedicated to distributing educational resources to children in disadvantaged situations and Title 1 schools. All books in our reading program are NEW books donated by the publishers. Our cost is less than $1 per book and absolutely FREE to the student!
While less than $1 per book is a great deal, it does still cost money. If you like what we're doing please consider becoming a member of the PTO or consider a general donation! See our Join or Donate page for an easy online transaction. A $25 donation to our general fund is enough to cover the cost of one month of books for an entire classroom!
